CH Shandael's Sampson
Sampson (Ch. Shandael’s Sampson) is one beautiful boy! When I decided to keep a brother and sister from Molly (Shandael’s Golly Miz Molly) and J.C. (Ch. Wolfwind’s In Sync ‘W U Too) somehow the biblical theme of Sampson and Delilaih came to mind…should have looked up the spelling.
Sampson has beautiful gait both from the side and coming and going. At the Denver specialty many commented on how beautifully he moved. I would have to say though that in terms of best feature, Sampson has one of the most beautiful heads I have ever seen. I was happy to have him used in the judge’s seminar as an example of a good Malamute head. Sampson is a very easy dog to live with and has a very sweet temperament.
Special thanks to Chris Burke and Lisa Panelli for giving me a little push (OK , a big shove) to get Sampson out. I must admit my enthusiasm for the whole show scene had ebbed. Lisa and Chris took him out and he finished in six weekends with all majors and a BOB from the classes.
Lisa used Sampson at stud to her lovely bitch, CH Ootek's Start Me Up "Missy", who is a Shandael/Williwaw breeding. Lisa has two great pups she kept from this litter. She has already started showing Rafa, who is stunning and is creating quite a buzz (Rafa has since finished and also has a BOB win).
Sampson had such a good time breeding Missy, that he came home and immediately bred his sister who apparently double-cycled and had a silent heat. Obviously calling litter mates Sampson and Delilaih (even when spelt incorrectly) is tempting fate. The litter was lovely and SURPRISE had two RED pups. Thirty years of line breeding and red pops up. Look for Maya (Shandael’s Princess of the Night), a striking black and white from this litter, in the show ring soon.
